Temp in sun = over 44 degrees C, in the under-story = 40 degrees C, no wind, humidity 20%.
The camp was coping with this one day of extreme temperatures.
Although the entire camp had retreated to the under-story layer of the trees, there were no bats on the ground and no open mouth breathing. There was early signs of gathering on the tree trunks - see picture.
The flying foxes were seen as low as 60cm from the ground.
No Wildlife Carer intervention needed at this stage.
